Welcome to the official website of the Upsilon Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated ®.



Upsilon Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, was the
first sorority chartered by college-trained African-American women in Richmond,
Virginia in 1925. Since that time, the chapter has continuously implemented
programs of service for women, men, youth, and children throughout the
Richmond metropolitan area. Initiatives addressing the family, positive youth
development, the arts, support for education, health and wellness, economic
security, and civic involvement comprise the rich legacy of the chapter.

Welcome to our website which proudly shares our illustrious history and provides
other pertinent information. Our programs and activities are designed to carry
out the mission and goals of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, through
implementation of the international program focus. In July of 2018, upon the
installation of International President, Dr. Glenda Glover, Alpha Kappa Alpha

began the 2018-2022 International Program under the theme, Exemplifying
Excellence Through Sustainable Service
. Five program targets are designed to
address this international program. They are: Target 1: HBCU for Life: A Call to
Action; Target 2: Women’s Healthcare and Wellness; Target 3: Building Your
Economic Legacy; Target 4: The Arts!; Target 5: Global Impact; and Our Signature
Program, CAPSM , which is the abbreviation for the College Admissions Process.
Upcoming events in 2019 will also include the AKA International Day of Prayer
Observance, National HBCU Week, Breast Cancer Awareness Week, and AKA
Caregivers’ Day Observance. Additional information concerning these events will
be featured on our website.

The members of Upsilon Omega Chapter take this opportunity to thank our
